Hohenschwangau Castle is located in the beautiful village of Hohenschwangau and easy to reach by walking. This 19-century castle’s interior has been well preserved over the years and was once home to King Ludwig II of Bavaria. During your visit, you’ll marvel at impressive rooms like the Hall of Heroes and Knights and the Oriental Room, and vibrant murals are sure to enchant you.
Neuschwanstein Castle is just a short walk away. The more fairytale-like of the two castles, Neuschwanstein’s gardens and views are exquisite. Discover the oratory, grotto and conservatory, throne hall, and more.
Formerly a grand hotel, today the Museum of the Bavarian Kings has been converted into a museum and restaurant, and is the perfect place to visit to round out your Füssen adventure. It tells the history of one of Europe’s oldest dynasties and offers a fascinating glimpse at the kings of Bavaria and other local histories.
Collect your tickets in our office at the train station in Füssen on the day of your tour and go by bus or car to the village of Hohenschwangau.
The Museum ticket is a day ticket and can be used all day long without set times.
To get to Neuschwanstein Castle you can choose to walk, take a shuttle bus or a horse and carriage ride and making sure you have enough time as there can be long waiting lines for both.

Please note: Ticket must be picked up at our ticket office at least 90 minutes before your tour begins. There are steps up to Hohenschwangau Castle but it is relatively easy to reach. Reaching and touring inside Neuschwanstein Castle does require a medium level of fitness and is not suited for limited mobility. Allow 5 1/2 hours from beginning to completing the tour and to getting back to Füssen.
